Built for More: Impact Caymol Jenkins 16U Is Raising the Standard in Central and Northeast Pennsylvania

The name may be new, but the foundation behind Impact Caymol Jenkins 16U has been built through years of coaching, competition, player development, and a genuine commitment to helping young athletes reach their potential. Formerly competing as PA Moxie, our program has taken an important step forward by becoming part of the Impact Caymol family—an established national fastpitch organization that provides the recognition, resources, connections, and competitive opportunities that are difficult for an independent team to create on its own. Our purpose is clear: to build one of the most competitive and development-focused 16U programs in Central and Northeast Pennsylvania while providing serious softball players with a legitimate pathway to higher levels of competition.

Our players have already proven that they are willing and able to compete. Over the previous 12 months, PA Moxie participated in 11 tournaments and placed in five of them. Most of those events were classified as B-level or open tournaments, including a combined 14U/16U event in which our younger roster competed against several established 16U teams. Along the way, we faced respected programs such as Polar Elite, Pocono Pride, NEPA Shock, Maryland Fever, Vanquish, Central PA Xplosion, Newtown Rock, Panther Select, Silver Bullets, the NY Diamond Girls, Empire State Huskies, and Hailstorm. Our schedule also included notable events such as the Niagara Falls Beach Classic, the Bill Ditchey Umpires Classic, and the Spring Showdown. Those experiences showed us that our core players can compete with strong regional organizations. They also showed us that the next stage of our growth requires stronger tournament access, greater organizational support, and a larger platform.

That is what makes the move to Impact Caymol so significant. According to the organization, Impact Caymol has competed at levels ranging from PGF to ASA and USSSA for more than 17 years and has earned over 50 championships, including 27 regional and national titles. The organization also promotes team and player recruiting websites, invitations to major tournaments and showcases, organizational training weekends, and access to training resources for coaches and players. Impact Caymol’s expanding national structure includes teams across multiple regions and age groups, giving affiliated players and coaches access to a much larger softball network.

However, wearing the Impact Caymol name is not enough. We understand that credibility must be supported by the quality of our coaching, practices, preparation, communication, and performance. Our goal is not simply to enter tournaments with a nationally recognized logo on our uniforms. We intend to represent that name properly by building disciplined players, competing against strong opponents, conducting purposeful practices, and creating an environment where improvement is expected.

Player development will remain the center of everything we do. Every athlete will receive an individualized development plan identifying her strengths, areas for improvement, positional goals, and the specific steps necessary to move forward. Those plans will address hitting, throwing, defense, baserunning, speed, softball intelligence, physical preparation, mental performance, and—when appropriate—college recruiting. Progress will be evaluated throughout the year so players understand what they are doing well, what still needs work, and how they can take greater ownership of their development.

Practices will be planned, active, instructional, and competitive. We will not rely on long lines, random drills, or repeatedly hitting routine ground balls without teaching movement, decision-making, and game awareness. Players will receive small-group instruction, position-specific work, defensive play calling, situational repetitions, competitive drills, baserunning education, and live game-like opportunities. This complete-player approach is consistent with USA Softball’s High Performance Program, which incorporates hitting development, defensive instruction, throwing education, mental-performance training, and evaluations across offense, defense, throwing, hitting, and running.

A major part of our offensive development will be the continued implementation of High Level Pattern, commonly known as HLP, hitting instruction. Head Coach Myles Jenkins is working toward becoming a certified HLP hitting instructor. We recognize that HLP is considered controversial in some softball circles because it challenges several traditional hitting beliefs. We are not implementing it because it is fashionable or different. We are implementing it because several of our players have experienced meaningful improvement after adopting its concepts. Players who previously struggled at the plate have developed into productive middle-of-the-order hitters, increased their extra-base production, improved their understanding of their swings, and gained the ability to make better adjustments. Our hitters will receive consistent terminology and organized progressions instead of being overwhelmed by conflicting instructions from multiple sources. Ultimately, game performance, quality of contact, swing decisions, adjustability, and player confidence will determine the effectiveness of our instruction.

Our returning players provide a strong foundation for the future. Many have been coached within the program for several years, and they bring a combination of power, pitching, catching, defensive versatility, speed, athleticism, and softball awareness. More importantly, they are personable, team-oriented young women who enjoy being around one another, love softball, want to improve, and genuinely want to compete. Talent matters, but building a successful program also requires dependable families, coachable athletes, personal accountability, and players who are willing to accept roles while continuing to earn greater opportunities.

Impact Caymol Jenkins will also take a more organized approach to college recruiting. We will not make unrealistic promises or tell every player that simply joining a national organization guarantees a scholarship. Recruiting requires athletic ability, academic preparation, appropriate competition, quality video, effective communication, realistic school selection, and consistent effort from the player. The NCAA emphasizes that exposure can come through film and club participation, that academics are part of the recruiting decision, and that athletes should gradually take ownership of communication as they advance through high school. Our responsibility will be to help interested players understand that process, create appropriate recruiting materials, identify schools that fit their academic and athletic abilities, communicate professionally with college coaches, select worthwhile showcases, and remain aware of NCAA eligibility requirements.

We also intend to compete in tournaments and showcases that challenge our players rather than building a schedule designed solely to collect trophies. Winning matters, and we will always compete to win, but meaningful development sometimes requires facing teams that expose weaknesses and force players to perform under pressure. The goal is to prepare athletes for strong high school programs, college recruiting opportunities, and the speed of the game at the next level. We want players who are excited by that challenge—not players looking for the easiest route to playing time or a guaranteed position.

Impact Caymol Jenkins 16U is being built for serious players and committed families throughout Central and Northeast Pennsylvania. Distance should not prevent the right athlete from exploring the opportunity. We are willing to work with families who value competitive softball, organized development, quality coaching, national exposure, and a team-first culture.

Open practices are held on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Point Township Recreational Park, Quarry Road, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, until the roster is filled. All positions are welcome, with a particular interest in adding pitchers and a catcher.
